19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He rescued four initial chances in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
