Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
